Mags and instruction videos

Start with an example.
This is taken from May 2013 Digital Photo CD and following the instruction given. OK slight variation but there are 100's of these tutorials with all sorts of ideas of what can be done. To be frank this one shows how to do this in elements and personally I would have done it in camera raw and used multi images and layers and masks to get same result but until you see what can be done one tends not to even think about it.
So a thought, and happy to be told not an option, but how about in beginners group playing one of these many videos then talking about pros and cons?
