Committee Meeting - Summary of 2nd December Empty Committee Meeting - Summary of 2nd December

Post by Chris Noble Mon Dec 06, 2010 11:58 pm

Just some things to tell you about after the Committeee Meeting on Thursday 2nd December:

1. Club Venue – As already mentioned we shall be moving to the Daniel Owen Centre from 10th January. As a results of timings here we must have completed our meetings by 9:45pm at the very latest. This is due to the fact the building in only insured for public use up to 10pm. Therefore all meetings will be starting at 7:30pm on the dot. Could we ask you to make sure you arrive early enough to be in your seat by 7:30pm. No more cold nights in Cathrina House. Specuial thanks to Bob, David & Andy for getting this sorted.

2. The December meetings on 13th (Open Competition) and 20th (Christmas Lecture) will now be held at the Regent Suite in the Beaufort Park Hotel. We shall begin at 7:30pm on both nights. Please meet in the Arches Bar where you will be directed by the Catering Secreatry (who will also take orders for tea/coffee). The cost for Tea/Coffee and biscuits on 13th will be £1.50 per person. On the 20th Tea/Coffee and Mince Pies will be supplied at no charge to the members. This is being covered by the profits from the refreshments so far this season.

3. Training – Some additional software training sessions will be arranged during February. Full details will be sent out in the new year but in summary, the sessions will take place at the Daniel Owen Centre on Monday evenings from 6:00-7:00pm. Anybody wishing to attend will be required to pre-book as the sessions are limited to 8 people. There will be a cost of £3 per person per session. If all goes well with the Febraury sessions they will be extended into March and beyond provided the requirment is there.

4. Golden Jubilee: Some of you may be aware but the 2012/13 season will be our 50th year and plans are underway to make it a very special year. It was agreed that a Focus Group will be setup to take charage of planning and running the special events. This Focus group will be chaired by myself and other committee members involved are Andy Polakowski, Janet M. Davies, Ian Parker, Steve Jones & Jonathan Frings. We would like 4 more people (non-committee if possible) to join the focus group. If you are willing to volunteer then please let me know.

5. Other items discussed incliuded that our finances and membership are both very healthy at this time. Changes may need to takle place with regard to competitions for next season but we shall continue with the 3 and 3 entries for this season with the ruling that 1 DPI might be removed if the entry is too big.
