Message reputation Empty Message reputation

Post by Steve Jones Sun Oct 03, 2010 1:57 am

Hi Team

I have just noticed, after six months of use, the Message Reputation function along side each message (the +/-). I think Eric mentioned it in a message which drew my attention to it. Therefore, I started looking closely at messages and noticed some have a Red or Green 'Bar Chart' on the top right hand side of the message. Does anyone know what this facility is for and how it works? It may be worth including in the second edition of the user guide. Or, do we need such a function? If not, can it be removed?

Regards

I only found it myself earlier in the week.

It's there for members to give reputation points eg, if someone makes a good forum post, is helpful or informative etc, then members can click on the + sign to award a reputation point as a thank you. Alternatively, if someone has been disrespectful or such like, you can give a - reputation. (I hope that doesn't happen though) the green bar is just an indication of reputation and the reputation points show under your Avatar in the forum stats

Hope that helps Very Happy

Hi Ann-Marie

I have had another thought regarding the Message Reputation function (two thoughts in a week for me is very worrying!)

Should we provide the information you have provided to all the Forum Members?

Have been giving this message reputation some thought and wondered if we should do away with it (if possible). Is there a chance it could create unecessary competitiveness and that cliques could form in that I will give you a point of you give me one.

I am playing devil's advocat here but we need to give it some thought before we release it.

Chris

I am in total agreement with you. The least chance of alienating Forum members the better.

I vote that we remove if possible.

I've found the off switch for reputation. It's not really necessary. The default was 'on' but I've now switched it off Very Happy
